Residencies

At P.S. 135, students engage in rich, immersive arts experiences designed to inspire creativity, self-expression, and a deeper understanding of the world around them.

Throughout the school year, all grades participate in arts residencies during the school day, exploring visual arts, dance, and theater.

Through partnerships with renowned cultural organizations such as Alvin Ailey, Marquis Studios, Smartworks Inc., Ballet Tech, and the Queens Museum, students have the unique opportunity to learn directly from professional artists and teaching specialists.

These residencies are thoughtfully integrated into the curriculum and aligned with our school’s theme, Exploration Through the Arts. Students develop skills in movement, performance, visual storytelling, and creative expression while building confidence, teamwork, and critical thinking.

Residencies often culminate in student showcases, performances, or exhibitions—providing students with opportunities to celebrate and share their artistic growth with the school community.

Our arts residencies help nurture well-rounded learners and foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
