Principal’s Message

Dear Parents/Guardians,

The 2022-2023 school year brought big changes to P.S. 135.  We were given the prestigious opportunity to become The Bellaire Magnet School of Exploration through the Arts.  Being a magnet school provides us the ability to offer your child unique curriculum and programs.  In addition to our academic programs, students have the exciting opportunity to engage in Project Based Learning throughout the school year.  Through academically rigorous projects, students acquire deep content knowledge while mastering 21st century success skills.  They will build their capacity to think critically, analyze information, collaborate with a diverse group of peers and solve problems creatively.  In the process of engaging with PBL, students learn to ask good questions, be resourceful, manage their time, meet authentic deadlines, and persist through challenges. All of these skills are vital to enable students to thrive in the future.

As well as rigorous academic curriculum, our school has partnered with various art residencies to provide our students with programs that will positively impact their social-emotional and academic growth.  These programs will take place during the school day, after school and on Saturdays. Programs for the 2023-2024 school year will include:

We are extremely excited to bring all of these wonderful academic and arts programs to our students.  Our Mission at The Bellaire School of Exploration through the Arts, is to provide each student with a supportive, safe and nurturing learning environment that will foster creative and independent problem solvers.  We are the school that C.A.R.E.S. and we look forward to each and every day with your children.
