Project-Based Learning
At P.S. 135, Project-Based Learning (PBL) is an integral part of our instructional program across all grade levels. Through PBL, students engage in meaningful, real-world projects that connect academic content to authentic tasks and challenges.
Each project is carefully designed to promote critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication—skills essential for success in school and beyond. Students work together to investigate complex questions, solve problems, and create high-quality products that demonstrate their learning.
Our PBL units are thoughtfully integrated into the curriculum and often connect to our school’s theme, Exploration Through the Arts. This allows students to explore topics through interdisciplinary lenses, incorporating literacy, math, science, social studies, and the arts. Projects culminate in presentations, performances, or showcases where students proudly share their work with peers, families, and the school community.
At P.S. 135, we believe Project-Based Learning empowers students to take ownership of their learning, builds confidence, and fosters a lifelong love of exploration and discovery.
